Until Further Notice

Biography

Until Further Notice was formed in January of 2004 and has constantly been growing and influenced upon since. Competing and winning 1st in multiple battle of the bands, judges comment highly on vocal ability and catchy melodies. "This kid has a voice...like the vocals! I am really into their beat. It's my kind of music and I really dig 'em!" (Matt McLain, Community Affairs, Salt Lake City Public Library Battle of the Bands)

"Interesting sound, unique and fun to listen to. Great energy, love harmonies! Good audience participation." (Judge Comments, The Riverton Art Festival Battle of the Bands)

With an alternative rock style, their music can be compared to anything from slow and soft, harmonic melodies, to up-beat, progressive renditions. All four members come from a different place as far as influences and genres are concerned. Consequently, what comes out is what is so unique about Until Further Notice. Some major influences may include Weezer, Muse, Buddy Guy, Foo Fighters, and Built to Spill.
Sam Decker and Bobby Mayne are the two original members of the band. They met and started the band their senior year of highschool. They were fast friends with complete mutual dedication to the music. After about a year of playing they became friends with another local band, Chasing Yesterday. The two bands played various venues together and attracted a great audience. It wasn't until a year later that Josh Frank, the guitarist for Chasing Yesterday, joined Until Further Notice. He's been the mandatory topping for UFN ever since. Jake was introduced to the band by his sister, Erin. Everyone was immediately astounded and blown away by his ability and passion to play the drums. Being three years younger and still attending high school provided the oppurtunity for UFN to participate and win three consecutive high school battle of the bands.
On more than one occasion UFN has played charity shows at which all proceeds have gone towards donations for those who are less fortunate. These would include a "Sub-4-Santa" fund raiser for kids without Christmas' and also a charity show for The Odysee House, a drug rehabilitation center. Until Further Notice released their debut album in May of 2005 entitled "Forgotten Sounds." It was a young, adventurous start which helped inspire their future as a band. In April of 2007, almost two years later, they released their self-titled album. The new album has and continues to receive incredible attention from the local scene with radio play on X96, Utah's largest alternative radio station. UFN managed to create a very wide spectrum of styles in this album. From pop, to acoustic ballads, to harder rock, they filled it with a variety of intriguing changes.
Composed of a standard quartet, they feed off each other directly to stir up new ideas, rhythms, and melodies. Jake Pettigrew caresses the drums. Bobby Mayne plays bass. He lived in Brazil for two years before rejoining the band in May of 2007. He possesses a remarkable ambition and love for playing that is impossible to go unnoticed, whether he's rocking out live or tracking bass lines in the studio. Josh Frank is a drummer stuck inside a body that knows guitar inside and out. With the God-gifted talent of perfect pitch he is able to hear beats and melodies that nobody else can. Sam Decker is the voice and song-writer for Until Further Notice. His voice is unique and versatile in that he has the ability to change his tone and singing style drastically during or between songs.
By heavens grace Until Further Notice has come together, making music and love life.
